INHERITED puts Zeeland Hardcore on the Map with Mascot Records Deal

The Netherlands has no shortage of hardcore coming out of its major cities. INHERITED, however, are building their story more than 150 kilometers away from the usual centers of the Dutch heavy scene.

Formed in Zeeland in 2024, the young groove-hardcore band have gone from playing skateparks, bars and underground spaces to Wacken Open Air in remarkably little time. Now there is another significant step: a deal with Mascot Records and the arrival of their new EP ALL 4 ONE on October 2.

The first single, “INHERITED,” makes it immediately clear that where the band comes from matters just as much as where they are heading.

This is Zeeland Hardcore. Or, as INHERITED puts it: ZLHC.

From Zeeland, with intent

INHERITED consists of vocalist Jamie Versprille, guitarists Marvin Wesdorp and Midas Giele, bassist Lucas Camonier and drummer Neill Ray.

They formed as a group of school friends in 2024. Three members, Neill, Midas and Marvin, are still in their teens.

That makes what followed particularly striking.

After winning the Dutch Metal Battle 2025, INHERITED earned a spot at Wacken Open Air. It became only their sixth live performance.

The band didn’t travel there alone.

For the Metal Battle final, they hired a double-decker bus and transported around 100 supporters more than 300 kilometres from Zeeland. It is a small detail that tells you plenty about the community already developing around the band.

That connection is central to INHERITED rather than something added to their biography after the fact.

Zeeland is geographically removed from much of the Dutch live circuit. Instead of treating that isolation as a disadvantage, the band have turned it into part of their identity.

ZLHC isn’t simply a logo. It is a statement about where this band belongs.

Hardcore runs in the family

Even the name INHERITED carries a deeper connection to Zeeland’s heavy music history.

Bassist Lucas Camonier and guitarist Marvin Wesdorp are the sons of members of Polluted Inheritance, the Zeeland death metal band whose history stretches back several decades.

That lineage feeds directly into the new single.

“INHERITED” deals with family, bloodline and the people and places that shaped the band. It turns the idea of inheritance into something broader than musical influence. Community, upbringing and regional identity all become part of what gets passed forward.

The video reinforces that local connection. INHERITED worked with Renzo van Dierendonck, art director at SMIB and a childhood friend of the band from Terneuzen.

For a young hardcore band signing to an international label, there is remarkably little interest in sanding away the local edges.

They appear to be doing the opposite.

‘ALL 4 ONE’ takes the next step

The five-track ALL 4 ONE EP was recorded in Leeds with Robin Adams, whose credits include Architects, Guilt Trip and Blood Youth.

Mastering was handled by Adam “Nolly” Getgood, known for his work with Periphery and Sleep Token.

Across just over fifteen minutes, the record revolves around themes of friendship, resilience, family and solidarity.

“Wasted Space” deals with friendship. “Won’t Break” focuses on empowerment, while the title track turns the band’s emphasis on community into a direct call for people to support each other through difficult periods.

Then “INHERITED” brings everything back to where they came from.

From skateparks to Wacken

The speed of INHERITED’s rise is impressive, but the route they have taken is just as important.

Before the larger stages appeared, the band played bars, skateparks, a barbershop and other unconventional spaces around the Dutch underground. Their touring has also taken them into an underground bunker in France and a youth chapel in Belgium.

At the other end of the spectrum, they have already shared stages with Pro-Pain, Dark Angel, Bodyfarm and Master, alongside festival appearances at Wacken Open Air, Dynamo Festival and South of Heaven.

That combination gives INHERITED an interesting position.

They are gaining access to considerably larger opportunities without having spent years gradually moving away from their DIY beginnings. Those two worlds are happening almost simultaneously.

A Mascot Records deal could accelerate that development even further.

ZLHC beyond Zeeland

The most interesting question surrounding INHERITED isn’t simply whether they can become a successful Dutch hardcore band.

It is whether they can bring a recognisable piece of Zeeland’s scene with them.

Hardcore has always been closely connected to geography. Cities and regions develop their own communities, venues, promoters, bands and identities. Those initials eventually become part of the language of the scene.

INHERITED clearly understand that tradition.

By putting ZLHC front and centre, they aren’t trying to hide the fact that they come from somewhere removed from the country’s biggest music cities. They’re turning it into their calling card.

Less than two years after forming, they already have Wacken on the résumé, an international label behind them and their first substantial release approaching.

There is still plenty to prove. Five songs and a rapidly expanding list of shows don’t automatically create a lasting European hardcore presence.

But INHERITED are moving unusually fast.

And if ALL 4 ONE delivers on the momentum surrounding them, the letters ZLHC might start appearing a long way beyond Zeeland.
